Baseball Academy - Summer '08

Baseball Academy : Summer 2008

Academy InstructionThe 2008 Lifeletics Baseball Academy brings the best out of players and coaches alike. 2008 will include new station itineraries and the inclusion of strength and agility into daily workouts. Lifeletics will once again offer a full-day option, and a 5-day work week. It is Lifeletics’ goal to provide your athlete with a professional, safe and positive environment to effectively learn baseball skills… and the application of those skills into other arenas of life.

The Lifeletics Academy combines the benefits of individual instructional lessons with traditional "station-to-station" camp instruction. Designed to teach a wide range of players, athletes are divided based on age first, and skill level second, to learn and develop the fundamentals of baseball. These small groups rotate between semi-private instructional lessons in hitting, pitching and fielding, and station work in areas such as baserunning, arm strengthening, bunting and relays. The Academy focuses on preparing athletes for competition with an optimal chance for positive health and success, and is operated in an efficient station-to-station clinic fashion. Each athlete will receive a minimum of nine semi-private instructional sessions in a combination of pitching, hitting and fielding. Lifeletics Academies are limited to a maximum of 60 athletes and maintain a 6:1 athlete/coach ratio.

6 : 1 Athlete to Coach Ratio
Perhaps the most important factor in understanding the amount of individual attention your athlete will get, athlete to coach ratio is the number of athletes at a camp relative to the number of coaches working. For example, if a Lifeletics Academy fills to a count of 60 athletes… there will be a minimum of 10 instructors present. This is an important figure to know for any baseball instruction event you chose to attend.

Two-Week Format
There are two different weeks that form the full Lifeletics Summer Academy experience. These are titled Format A and Format B. All Lifeletics locations will offer both formats, with South OC and Huntington Beach holding two weeks of each format.

Format A - Fundamental Baseball Instruction
Includes 9 Semi-Private Lessons with Top Notch Instructors. Morning stations blend individual instruction with station-to-station work (pitching / hitting / fielding / outfield / repetitions). Final hour continues with quick-hitting, high-energy station instruction in fundamental areas such as rundowns, cuts/relays, team defense, skills, baseball athleticism and batting practice.

Format B - Fundamental Instruction plus Competition / Game Workouts
Morning format continues fundamental growth in major disciplines, while final hour involved game competition. Game competition is Lifeletics brand of baseball – points earned for proper fundamental execution of assigned tasks. Situational instruction on the field of play makes for an effective blend of competition and coaching. Attend both weeks for the full experience (discount available for multiple weeks).

Extra Innings - Extended Day Option: Train Through 3:00pm
Available all weeks, Extra Innings allows athletes to stay through a lunch break (12:30-1:15pm) as well as an additional 1-hour and 45-minutes of training (1:15-3:00pm). This time will allow instructors to dive deeper into baseball instruction, although intensity of instruction will be intentionally decreased. Lifeletics philosophy builds around the belief that baseball is played at a high level of energy and intensity. The morning portion of the Lifeletics Baseball Academy is the core product – and athletes will be pushed to fire through drills and activities with high levels of energy and execution. The Extra Innings option will include position-specific training (catcher, middle infield, corner infield), but will also include fun activities and games (over-the-line, whiffle ball competition, etc). The cost for Extra Innings is $65/week per athlete ($120/two siblings).
